Angst.
Uduak rushed at her husband. She stood on his way to the door and squeezed his shirt putting her face into the cranny of his shoulder, in the process she pushed him in an attempt to stop him from getting to the door.
"Don't disrespect me in front of my children woman!" Eket growled. He tried to pry her hand off his shirt.
"And don't you woman me!" Uduak replied vehemently.
"Which children? Which children are you feigning concern for?
The same ones whom you want to starve to death?!" She hissed at him.
"You are a stupid woman! Very stupid! So, because I've been having financial problems now, they aren't my children right?! Just go Uduak, let me be this morning"....he made to walk past her.
"And you Mr. Inyang is more stupid for picking a stupid woman to be your wife!" She jumped at him pushing him backwards.
" You call your silly assed laziness a financial problem? You have no drive! You are weak! All you do is chase after stupid small girls like....."
Eket pulled his wife closer and enclosed his palms on her neck....she looked startled because she didn't see it coming. He was desperate and looked determined to do the task at hand very well....he squeezed hard ignoring the frantic kicks and feeble scratches his wife made at his legs and on his face....
Uduak was getting weak .... her husband looked like he was in a trance staring at her as she pleaded with her eyes. At that moment Vivian barged into the duo and took in the scenario within seconds. She shrieked and rushed at her parents "daddy stoooop!" She screamed, pulling at his shirt. That was when Eket came to. He reluctantly let go of his wife's neck and slunked onto the nearby couch.
Uduak fell in one swoop to the floor gasping for air... she couldn't talk, her daughter rushed to get water and sprinkled some on her. Vivian was shivering at the scene she just witnessed, looking confused and scared.
Eket had his hands over his face, he was in tears, weakened by the realisation of what he had attempted to do. He looked at the heap of human form on the floor and shuddered at what would have become.....
