Amina's Travail (8)

It has been over a year since when Amina called her husband in the United States and got the shock of her life. A lady picked up her call to Emeka’s phone and she was taken aback when she introduced herself as his wife. She couldn’t believe her ears when Emeka himself called and told her that she should move on with her life since he has decided to start a new life in America.
The pain and humiliation was unbearable she had to leave the house she and Emeka both rented. She wouldn’t have had any choice anyway since her mother in-law and her daughters were thrilled that things had gone sour between her and their brother.they happily spread the news around with abandon. They did not even bother that she took Chinedu along when she left the flat.
Things were really rough with her initially but with the help of her friend Rosemary and David she got by.
David... her thoughts lingered on the man that has more or less wiped out her tears. He has been there for her. It was on his shoulder that she cried endlessly when the heartbreak incidence happened. Being the gentleman that he is, he never took advantage of her situation to coerce her to get involved with him immediately.
The best part was the genuine care and concern he showed to her son chinedu. His father Emeka couldn’t have done better with the interest he showed in her son’s life. David was there for both her and her son. What else could she have asked for after being treated so badly by her so called wicked husband.
She did not hesitate to say yes to him when he eventually asked her to marry him. Her parents were more than eager to give their consent. Not after they had joyfully returned their daughters bride price to their former in-laws. To them it was more of good riddance to rubbish! They never for a second approved of that wicked family. They only consented after so much pleading from their daughter.
Luckily for Amina and David, A South African firm had offered David a better paying job and they would be moving down after tying the knot at the registry. But David wants the legal paper of Chinedu’s change of name to be completed before they leave Nigeria.
Amina could not believe her luck! A man that dotes over her! She simply thinks it is a dream!
Her friend Rosemary was so happy for her friend, who had suffered so much pain both from her in-laws and her cruel husband.
The date fixed for the wedding came and went everybody was happy. Now she was at the airport with her fiancé to see her friend Amina and her new husband off. everyone was all smiles and tears when it was time for them to board their plane.
“I’ll miss you dearly!” Amina told her friend.
“I know, but I’ll miss you more!” she replied.
“Hey lady’s round up your fare well we are running late!” David called out to both of them.
They both hugged and said their goodbyes.
Chinedu was obviously excited, he held on to his new daddy’s hand and they made their way to the waiting aircraft.
