“Rosemary, what exactly does David want from me? I really do not understand him o! Haba! I am not so stupid not to know he is seeking my attention! Doesn’t he know am married?”
“Calm down! Stop shouting! Remember we are in a saloon anybody can hear our discussion and you kinow how rumours fly around this place!” Rosemary cautioned her friend.
“Who cares? Haven’t you been hearing the words flying around that Emeka has ditched me?”
“Amina! You of all people should know better than listening to irrelevant gist’s!” said Rosemary.
“What do you mean by irrelevant gist’s? Is it not obvious that Emeka has ditched me? Nine months now he has not sent me money for this boy’s upkeep. And he knows his leech of a mother and his two greedy sisters are living with me! How callous can one’s husband get? And remember, there is no smoke without fire!” she said emphasising the word “smoke” and “fire”.
“Look my friend!” Rosemary said to her. “I might not feel exactly how you do but believe me, I do understand to a large extent how you feel! But I do not want you to make any decision based on assumptions! This man has not called to call the relationship off neither have you gotten a concrete evidence to affirm the rumours being peddled about!”
“See Rosemary; inasmuch as I do not want to over react concerning this issue, just put yourself in my shoes! Nine good months no communication between a husband and a wife! He does not even care to contribute to his son’s needs anymore talk less of mine!” Amina lamented. “He is not making things easy for me at all! See decent men like David are offering me peace and bliss but I do not even dare to look their way because I am still tied to a man who is becoming elusive to me as each day goes by! I am in a dilemma Rosemary! What do I do?”
“I need to know where we both stand, or better still where he stands because I know exactly where I stand with him!”
“It’s okay Amina! I am so sorry this is happening to you! I can feel your pain and understand your fears. Let us just hope and pray for the best to happen. Meanwhile we’ll still keep calling his line and this time when we get him he should be able to come straight with you on what he wants. You must insist!”
“Thanks my friend! You have been there for me! If not for you,  God knows I would have collapsed under this strain! Not with my in-laws who have no other wish but to see my marriage crumble! I feel like they are having exactly what they wished for me!” Amina moaned.
“Hey! Cheer up!” Rosemary said, “Like I always say, things will turn out fine! Let us just keep on praying for God to take control of everything on our behalf!”
“Amen!” Amina said sighing.
